1. What is ear aesthetics (otoplasty)?
Ears, whose main function is hearing, can appear in unusual ways. This makes the person feel unhappy. The most common outer ear deformation is the condition of the ears bending forward, called the prominent ear. Many congenital or acquired deformities that require ear aesthetic surgery can be encountered in the ear. Congenital complete or partial absence of the ear, extra cartilage protrusions around the auricle, the ear being shrunken like a crumpled paper (Consticted ear), pointed ears like Captain Spark (Stahl's ear) or partial or complete loss of the ear as a result of an accident. We encounter prominent ear deformity in which the ears are very prominent.
2. Will there be any scars after otoplasty?
Since prominent ear surgery is performed behind the ear, the scars will not be visible. With the time these traces will become unclear.
3. Does prominent ear surgery affect the eardrum or hearing?
Ear plastic surgery does not affect the eardrum or hearing because it is performed on the outer ear. It does not damage the inner structure of the ear.
4. Is it visible that the surgery was performed?
After the swelling if gone, the ears regain their natural appearance. It should take in average 10 days.
5. When are the stitches taken out?
We use self dissolving materials, there is no such thing as stitching. Stitches begin to dissolve in 1 week and disappear completely in about 3 weeks.
6. When I can take a bath after surgery?
You can take a bath 1 week after the surgery. The first showers should be quick with some warm water.
